Consumerism

Consumerism has become a way of life in western culture today. Corporations have grown larger than governements, selling endless amounts of products, reaching to our innermost desires and needs in a variety of ways. Anything we could ever want to make us feel better is produced and sold, but not without its problems.

Consumerism is slowly but surely destroying the planet we inhabit. Greedily taking natural resources and turning them in to man-made goods full of toxins and harmful chemicals, bought and sold with manufactured currency and then thrown away.
97% of products are bought, used within 6 months, and then thrown away.

This video explains the history of consumerism developing into our culture. At the head of it all, is Sigmund Freud and his nephew Edward Bernays, who uses psychoanalysis to determine the inner desires of the human race, and use it to sell products.
