Sloth

Sloth definition: Both physical and/or spiritual laziness. A failure to do things that one should do. 
 
The entertainment industry exploits the sin sloth. Entertainment such as television switches our brains in to a hypnotic state. After around a minute of watching television, the brain switches from beta level consciousness - associated with active logical thought, to alpha level consciousness - associated with passive acceptance and suggestability. Streams of information are delivered in to the brain from brands, morals, attitudes and behaviours, subliminal messages etc. The main goal is to encourage you to buy in to their products. The games industry has boomed over the last decade with the rapid growth of technology. The realistic sets, characters and smooth transitions make it easier to become enveloped in game land, encouraging your brain to believe that you are active, meanwhile your body is using little to no energy to run.
